Enabling Technologies and People for Next-Generation Precision Agriculture (EnTechAgri)
|
|
Søknadssammendrag
Intelligent Autonomous Systems play a central role in developing the Agriculture, Environment, and Food Quality sectors and society. Sustainable collaboration between universities, research groups, and business/public sectors is essential to trigger innovations in enabling technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI), field robotics, and the internet of things (IoT) for next-generation digital agriculture. As a critical element of academic teaching and modern scientific research, knowledge transfer, data sharing, and user/customer engagement can accelerate scientific collaboration and encourage large-scale study, leading to projects that enhance transformation and value creation in the food industry.
The project activities mainly consist of promoting productive interaction in higher education, research, and cooperation in innovation between academic institutions in Norway and Brazil (NMBU, PUC, UFRJ, and Embrapa), enhancing the quality and relevance of study programs. Second, the project aims to connect great players in digital intelligence for precision agriculture (Saga Robotics, Solinftec, and Smart Agri), as we know that the planet is going through a turning point in search of more efficient, sustainable food production.
This project, shortly named EnTechAgri, will foster mutual student exchange and develop entirely new joint educational and research activities in enabling technologies for precision agriculture, along with fieldwork, summer schools, workshops, and student supervision. This project will also create a completely new class in advanced robotics based on enabling technologies, including computer vision, control, and automation. Even though this is at the forefront of research, all concepts, examples, and algorithms will be relatively simple to understand and implement. These will provide the students with effective and powerful practical tools to develop advanced robotic systems for real-world agricultural applications.
